
There are four grammar schools in Wirral that have their admissions and assessment arrangements coordinated by Wirral Local Authority Children’s Services:
Calday Grange Grammar School (Boys)
West Kirby Grammar School (Girls)
Wirral Grammar School for Boys
Wirral Grammar School for Girls
There are two further selective schools in Wirral which have their own testing arrangements:
The Wirral Admissions Test ( 11 plus ) exam assesses childrens suitability for grammar schools in Wirral. The test is taken in Septmeber of year 6 and is shared by the four non- Catholic grammar schools in the area.
The tests look at a broad range of skills, including verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning and mathematics, and are intended to be a better reflection of the child’s ability across multiple areas. The test is made up of two booklets, each with multiple-choice questions and answers marked on a seperate answer sheet.
Parents are advised that they should register for the Wirral Admissions Test on the Wirral Council website.
Results are sent out via email to parents during October where you can then submit your preference form to Wirral Council for admission into year 7 the followng year.
