There are four grammar schools in Wirral that have their admissions and assessment arrangements coordinated by Wirral Local Authority Children’s Services:
Calday Grange Grammar School (Boys)
West Kirby Grammar School (Girls)
Wirral Grammar School for Boys
Wirral Grammar School for Girls
There are two further selective schools in Wirral which have their own testing arrangements:
In September 2016 the format of the 11 Plus changed slightly Following the outcome of a working group of grammar and primary school head teachers and in line with many other selective authorities, the test provider for the Wirral selective tests (known as 11 Plus) was changed from a company called GL Assessment to another company, CEM.
The new tests look at a broader range of skills, including verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning and mathematics, and are intended to be a better reflection of the child’s ability across multiple areas.
